With Facebook's stock dropping over 30% since its IPO, many Wall Street Analysts have issued negative projections to the future of the company. Eric Jackson of Ironfire Capital made a bold prediction on CNBC on Monday. Mr. Jackson predicts Facebook will disappear in 5 to 8 years. Again, mobile is blamed for Facebook's downfall.
The interesting point that Mr. Jackson makes is that the evolution of the internet and digital technology has evolved over three generations. The first generation was web content aggregation lead by big web portals and dominated by Yahoo. The second generation was social web/social media led by Facebook. Now the third generation that is currently upon us is the mobile platform.
The question for the mobile platform is how to making money off of it. Companies and entreprenuers are desperately searching for the next big mobile innovation that will lead to "monetizing" the mobile space. The question will be who will come up with the next big thing that will lead the 3rd generation of digital technology. Maybe it will be one of our StartCoders!
